Meta tag generator

Title, description, canonical, Open Graph and X card tags, ready to paste.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded · free, no signup

Write your page's title and description once and get every tag that controls how it appears in Google and when it's shared: title, meta description, canonical link, robots, Open Graph and X (Twitter) card tags.

How to use the Meta tag generator

  1. Enter the title and description; the counters show when they're too short or long.
  2. Add the page URL, share image and site name.
  3. Copy the tags into your page's head.

Lengths that work

Titles of 30–60 characters show in full in most Google results. Descriptions of 70–160 characters give Google a usable snippet, though it may rewrite it to match the search.

The share image

Use a 1200×630 image under 5 MB with an absolute URL. It's what people see when your link is posted on X, LinkedIn, Slack or iMessage, so it's worth designing.

Canonical and robots

The canonical tag tells Google which URL is the main one when the same page has several addresses. Leave robots on index, follow unless the page should stay out of search.
