Meridian vs Pier

Pier turns a Nextcloud, NAS, SFTP or NFS folder into a normal Windows drive letter, with a block cache, resumable transfers and an offline mode, so every Windows program can open the files. What is Meridian?

Meridian is warehouse and inventory software for Windows with CRM elements. One program covers a shop, a warehouse or a service centre: goods and stock, receipts and sales, a scanner-driven cash desk, discounts and loyalty cards, customers, documents, tasks, mail and telephony. It is installed from an MSI and runs on your own PostgreSQL server; seats are bought once and stay yours. Warehouse: warehouses and storage places, product cards with groups, barcodes, images and kits, receipts, transfers, returns, stock and turnover reports. Sales and documents: sale documents with lines, posting that moves stock, invoices with payment state, labour and services sold alongside goods. Cash desk: retail sale from a barcode scanner without a single pop-up window; F-keys for cash, card, quantity and closing; receipt printing scripted in Python. Discounts and loyalty: loyalty cards tied to a phone number, levels by turnover, bonuses, coupons and promo codes, tiered and time-limited promotions - one rule table, one engine. Car service and spare parts: the customer's garage, part lookup by vehicle from stock and from the catalogue, cross-references and analogues. Clients, tasks, mail and telephony: counterparties and contacts, employees and 13 ready-made roles, tasks with reminders, a built-in SMTP/IMAP mail client and SIP telephony next to the client card. Free for 10 seats, forever. 25 seats USD 159, 50 seats USD 299, 100 seats USD 529, one-time. Requirements: Windows 10/11 64-bit, PostgreSQL 12 or newer (a database kit is available on the website). What is Pier?

Pier turns a remote folder into a normal Windows drive letter. It speaks WebDAV (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Synology, QNAP, Apache, IIS), SFTP (any SSH server, password or OpenSSH keys) and NFSv3, and uses the open-source Dokany driver, installed for you by the setup program, so Explorer, Office, backup tools and scripts work on the drive as on a local disk.
